Changes to Medical/Surgical Services at Kingsbrook Effective July 1, 2021

As of July 1, 2021, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center (Kingsbrook) will no longer provide medical/surgical inpatient services. If you require a hospital stay for a medical condition after July 1, 2021, you will have the option of being admitted to Interfaith Medical Center (Interfaith), Brookdale Medical Center (Brookdale) or another hospital based on your doctor’s recommendation or your preference. Most of Kingsbrook’s current doctors will be able to treat their patients at Interfaith and Brookdale. Please contact Theresa James-Smalls, Manager Medical Staff Affairs, at (718) 604-5208 or tjamessmalls@kingsbrook.org to find out if your doctor can admit patients to Interfaith or Brookdale.

Kingsbrook is not closing. Kingsbrook will continue to provide a great deal of health care services. The services that will continue to be offered at Kingsbrook include:

  • A 24 hour/7 day full service Emergency Department

  • Ambulatory Surgical Services (Same Day Surgery)

  • Primary Care and Specialty Outpatient Care Services

  • Adult Psychiatry Inpatient Services

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Medicine

  • Post-Acute and Long Term Care at the Rutland Nursing Home

If you use Kingsbrook for outpatient care, we want you to continue to do so. Our newly renovated Pierre Toussaint Family Health Center, located at 1110 Eastern Parkway, provides the following services:

  • Cardiology

  • Endocrinology

  • Gastroenterology

  • GYN Care

  • Health Coaching & Nutrition Services

  • Neurology

  • Podiatry

  • Primary Care Services

The Emergency Department will continue to be open 24 hours, 7 days a week and will continue to receive patients brought by ambulance or who walk-in. All patients coming to the Emergency Department will continue to be treated as they have been. If your medical condition requires inpatient care, you can be admitted directly to Interfaith or Brookdale.

To request a copy of your medical record, please contact Andrea Flynn, Director of the Health Information Management Department, at (718) 604-5655 or aflynn@kingsbrook.org.

If you have any further questions or need assistance during this period of change, please contact Ron Levy, Director of Operations, at (718) 604-6576 or rlevy@kingsbrook.org.

Thank you for your support. Kingsbrook has a longstanding commitment to serving the central Brooklyn community and we want to continue to serve you and your family.
