KINGSBROOK’S BEST HEALTH SCHOOL PRESENTS “EAT TO LIVE

in conjunction with the Lion’s Club Metropolis Brooklyn and Salad Masters!

Brooklyn, NY-Aug 5, 2017--Kingsbrook’s Best Health School has partnered with the Brooklyn Metropolis Lions Club to present the “Eat to Live” educational series, featuring the importance of healthy eating in the community of central Brooklyn. The first event will be held on Kingsbrook’s main campus on Saturday, August 5th in the Lillian Minkin ballroom at 585 Schenectady Avenue between Winthrop Street and Rutland Road from 11:00-1:00pm.

Featuring Chef Ravi Samaroo of Salad Masters, this session will address the importance of healthy food preparation, especially as it pertains to cultural dishes the community loves most.

“We have some of the most delicious cultural dishes in our community, mainly from the Caribbean, however, it is the way that they are prepared that impacts the instances of obesity diabetes and hypertension that are so prevalent,” says Enid Dillard, Director of Marketing & Public Affairs at Kingsbrook. “Our goal is to demonstrate how these delicious dishes can be prepared to be tasty and healthy at the same time.” The event will feature cooking and tasting demonstrations for a number of dishes including salads, main entrees and desert options.

Chef Samaroo at Salad Masters has made it his life’s work to educate people on the advantages of preparing a variety of traditional Caribbean foods the healthy way. His work in this arena has been most rewarding as he has seen so many health benefits for patients with cancer, stroke survivors and those suffering from diabetes. “We are so very happy that Salad Masters and Chef Samaroo are working with us on this educational effort,” said Monique Brizz-Walker, Lions Club member and Kingsbrook Community Leadership Council Member, “this level of educational supports Kingsbrook’s mission to prevent and manage chronic disease and we are glad to be a continued partner in those efforts. We look forward to many more “Eat to Live” events!”
