Kingsbrook will offer free stroke screenings and education on October 23-27th,
11:00am- 2:00pm in the Vascular Laboratory, Katz building 4th floor on the medical center’s main campus at 585 Schenectady Avenue
between Winthrop Street & Rutland Road. Kingsbrook’s free screening
program provides access to detection opportunities for the under and uninsured
of the community. The screening program is part of the facility’s
prevention agenda to improve access to quality care and early detection
efforts and is offered via
Kingsbrook’s Best Health School.
Kingsbrook has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke
Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite Plus several years in a row. The award recognizes the
hospital’s commitment to providing the most appropriate stroke treatment
according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on
the latest scientific evidence.
Hospitals must achieve 85 percent or higher adherence to all Get With The
Guidelines-Stroke achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month
periods and achieve 75 percent or higher compliance with five of eight
Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Quality measures to receive the Gold Plus
Quality Achievement Award.
Additionally, Kingsbrook specializes in stroke rehabilitation and has a
designated Stroke Center implemented in its Emergency Department. The
center is fully equipped with tele-stroke capabilities, a 2-way, video
conferencing system with stroke/neurology specialists.
