Kingsbrook Hosts Asthma Screening Week March 27-31

Kingsbrook's Best Health School provides free education and early detection options for Central Brooklyn residents all year round. From March 27-31 free asthma screenings will be held for the entire week, from 11:00-2:00pm in the Pulmonary Lab DMRI 4th Floor) on our main campus at 585 Schenectady Avenue between Winthrop Street & Rutland Road.

Asthma involves narrowing of the airways, this is sometimes triggered by allergens or irritating things entering the lungs. Symptoms include trouble breathing, wheezing, coughing and tightness in the chest. In severe cases, asthma can be deadly. There is no cure for asthma, but asthma can be managed with proper prevention and treatment. There are more Americans than ever before suffering from asthma.

Asthma impacts a large part of the Central Brooklyn community and needs a level of treatment and understanding that is critical for living a normal healthy life. The American lung Association describes, asthma as a lifelong disease that causes wheezing, breathlessness, chest tightness, and coughing. It can limit a person's quality of life. It is one of this country's most common and costly diseases.
