THE BEST HEALTH SCHOOL PROVIDES CPR EDUCATION TO PARENTS
Brooklyn, NY- (March, 2016)— Kingsbrook’s Best Health School
hosted a CPR class for the parent teacher organization of the East Flatbush
Middle school this month. As part of the “Community Classroom”
series, where the program brings classes to various organizations in the
community, this special first aid training is one of many valuable classes
the Best Health School provides for the community. The program also holds
classes on Kingsbrook’s campus at throughout the year.
Carren Samuel, Director of Respiratory Care and a KJMC Community Ambassador,
facilitated the session that was well received by participants. “It
was awesome!” commented Joyce Johnson, member of the group. “Absolutely
needed in our community, we can’t wait to coordinate more programs
like this!”
The health & wellness education model provides a wide range of prevention
education to choose from, including essential classes for heart disease,
stroke awareness and diabetes care. The program is designed to build a
heightened awareness to health disparities and risk factors and offers
certificates of completion to participants. The curriculum is provided
by various medical departments at Kingsbrook and include education from
external partners. The curriculum is also championed by the Education
Committee of Kingsbrook's Community Leadership Council. Classes include:
medication interaction, warning signs of abuse, obesity management and
prevention, kidney health, diabetic foot care to name a few.
"The idea behind the
Best Health School is to provide continuous access to health and wellness education. That
accessibility and consistency will make it easier for our community residents
to to heighten their awareness and understanding of risk factors and prevention
modules whenever they need,” says Enid Dillard, Director of Marketing
and Public Affairs. “We are committed to extending our curriculum
partnering with outside organizations and working with our community leadership
council education committee to make sure the quality of education is its
ultimate best."
