Organ Donation After Death Policy at Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center
A message for patients and families:
It is our goal to provide the highest standard of care for our patients,
with the aims of saving life, improving quality of life, and relieving
suffering. When you come to Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center for care,
you can be assured that your well-being is our highest priority.
In accordance with federal law, Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center works
with the New York Organ Donor Network to improve opportunities for organ
and tissue donation. When it is appropriate, the hospital works with representatives
of the New York Organ Donor Network to help families consider the opportunity
to donate organs and/or tissues after the death of a family member.
Donation is a meaningful act that helps others and can be a source of comfort
to the donor family. Organ transplants save lives, and improving the rate
of organ donation so that more lives can be saved is an important hospital
function, according to the United States Department of Health and Human Services.
If you have any questions or concerns about organ donation, we encourage
you to contact the New York Organ Donor Network at 646-291-4444, or visit
the NY Organ Donor Network website,
www.donatelifeny.org. Of course, the hospital staff is also available to assist you.
