Kingsbrook's Community Service Plan
Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center is a member of One Brooklyn Health System,
Inc. (OBHS).
OBHS is a co-operator of Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, Interfaith
Medical Center, and Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center. OBHS’s Mission
Statement is
“We provide greater access to high quality medical care and keep
our communities healthy through an integrated care system that respects
the diversity of our communities and addresses both the health needs and
unique factors that shape them."
OBHS member hospitals have strong, historic ties to the communities they
serve. In recent years, OBHS member hospitals have supported participatory
action research (PAR) projects with the residents of Central and
Northeast Brooklyn to develop community-led research and recommendations
to improve community health.
The PAR reports are a cornerstone of OBHS’ first joint community
health needs assessment and community service plan as a hospital system.
OBHS member hospitals abide by federal health laws included in the Patient
Protection and Affordable Care Act and New York State Department of Health
regulations requiring a community health needs assessment and community
service plan once every three years. OBHS member hospitals have come together
as vital anchor institutions and safety-net providers to develop a plan
that aligns New York City, New York State and federal health requirements
and initiatives with the health needs voiced by the Central and Northeast
Brooklyn community.
