Dedicated to providing easy access to early prevention and detection services
for the community, Kingsbrook will offer free hypertension screenings
and education to visiting patients and guests on November 15th. Screenings
will be conducted from 11:00am- 2:00pm in the Briger Lobby. After screenings
and education, tours of the outpatient center, located in Suite 100, DMRI
first floor on the main campus at 585 Schenectady Avenue between Winthrop
Street & Rutland Road will be conducted upon request.
Kingsbrook’s free screenings provide access to detection efforts
for the under and uninsured of the community. The screening program is
part of the facility’s prevention agenda to improve access to quality
care and early detection efforts. Hypertension is linked to myriad of
other chronic health conditions such as stroke, heart attack, kidney &
liver disease to name a few. Regional data shows that 26% of the Flatbush
Brooklyn communities suffer from hypertension.
"Early detection is the best protection. Understanding the seriousness
of hypertension is critical,” says Enid Dillard, Director of Marketing
& Public Affairs. “Many members of our community are under or
uninsured, so our free screening options are important to many residents."
