Brooklyn, NY— Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center’s health and wellness television show “Health News You Can Use” has been renewed for another season on Brooklyn Community Access Television (BCAT). The ½ hour program speaks to the unique health care needs of Central Brooklynites and features prominent medical professionals and guests who shed light on treatment options and lifestyle adjustments due to a variety of health conditions.
The show’s production crew is comprised of medical and ancillary staff from Kingsbrook and to date has produced episodes on diabetes, hypertension, asthma, HIV/AIDS, depression and obesity to name a few. “We trained very hard to produce this show monthly,” said Carren Samuel, Administrative Director of KJMC’s Respiratory Division and Director of the show. “We realized the value in creating a show like this and the impact it would have on the community. As health care workers, we feel this is part of our duty to help spread the word about health care options and treatment services.” The crew is now preparing for its April episode which will air on Wednesday, April 23rd at 2:00pm on Channel 35/68 Time Warner/Cablevision.
Health & wellness education has always been at the helm of Kingsbrook’s public affairs and community outreach priorities. Annually, Kingsbrook provides screenings, health seminars, a traveling Speaker’s Bureau program and health and wellness newsletters, all of no charge to the community.
“Understanding that early detection and prevention are essential to maintaining ultimate health, we have used these educational mediums to encourage a more informed, health conscious community; one that can be assured that there are treatment and lifestyle options that can have a positive effect on any health condition,” said Enid Dillard, Director of Marketing & Public Affairs and Producer of the show. “The creation of “Health News You Can Use” is a valuable addition to this focus, expanding the reach for our institution’s health and wellness message. As such, this program is a major extension of our public affairs focus.”
“Health News You Can Use” airs every fourth Wednesday at 2:00pm on BCAT, Time Warner Channel 35 and Cablevision Channel 68. Tune in this season for informational shows for the entire community. To find out more about this season’s line-up call our Public Affairs department at 718-604-5062.
