Kingsbrook observes National Nutrition month... hosts free public lecture to discuss the importance of proper nutrition.

Brooklyn, New York.

As a part of Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center’s national nutrition month observances, on Thursday, March 22nd the medical center will host a free public lecture entitled, “Nutrition & the importance of healthy eating habits.”  The forum will be held at the center’s main campus located at 585 Schenectady Avenue in Brooklyn, between Rutland Road and Winthrop Street, and is part of the public education lecture series, Taking Control of Your Health 2007.

The one-hour informative and interactive session, starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room on the 4th Floor of the Briger building.  A light dinner is provided.  Clinical Dietitians, Kirtee Agrawal, RD and Yossi Zak, RD are the presenters that will host the evening. They will address fundamental nutrition issues and provide updates related to healthy eating and importance of routine physical activity. Additionally, they will offer guidelines for making smart choices, eating a balanced diet, and its importance in promoting overall good health and well-being.

“As Nutrition Month is observed nationally by the American Dietetic Association, it serves to remind us of the importance of making informed food choices,” states Ms. Agrawal, RD. She adds, “The theme this year is 'fad-free', encouraging participants to make life-style changes rather than following popular yet ineffective diets. The diet that works is to eat healthy all the time; this doesn't mean to be obsessive, but to be aware of portion sizes, and to recognize signals of satiety. Another message for this year is to balance food and exercise. The focus of this lecture is to empower members of the public with valuable pointers towards improving their diets, and to make nutrition an integral part of their daily lives.”

The intention of this free lecture is to educate and increase awareness among the residents of our communities about the importance of nutrition and the role physical activity plays in achieving a better quality of life.  As such, if you or someone you know can benefit from this lecture we encourage you to attend.   To reserve your seat today or for more information, please call Kingsbrook’s Public Affairs office at (718) 604-5062.
